Statoil Gas Leak Damaged Output
The shutdown has meant a loss of 205,000 barrels daily
Norway?s state oil producer Statoil ASA said Thursday that it had contained a gas leak at Snorre A platform, the one of its North Sea production rigs. However, it still can?t name the date of production resuming.
The shutdown has meant a loss of 205,000 barrels daily, or 6.4 percent of Norway?s estimated 3.2 million barrels a day of production.
The platform was shut down Sunday after a gas leak resulted in the evacuation of 180 workers. The platform's daily production of 130,000 barrels of oil was affected, along with 75,000 barrels a day from the nearby Vigdis field.
