Harmony-Gold Fields Merge To Happen In March

SA gold miner Harmony Gold is likely to implement the takeover of its domestic rival Gold Fields to mid-March due to the regulatory process which will take longer than expected.

Harmony's subsequent offer currently closes on February 4, 2005. In its offer document to Gold Fields shareholders, released on October 18, 2004, Harmony said it anticipated the Competition Tribunal finding regarding Harmony?s merger proposal by January 18, 2005.
