Shell Reopened Flow Station After Villagers Outbreak
Shell reopened Wednesday the Odioma flow station that was shut down
The Anglo-Dutch oil giant Royal Dutch/Shell reopened Wednesday the Odioma flow station that was shut down by protesting villagers two weeks ago in southern Nigeria, a company spokesman said.
The flow station, which produces about 8,000 barrels of crude oil per day, was shut down on January 7 by villagers from Odioma community, alleging Shell ignored their request to help repair an electricity generator, which was provided by the oil giant under a community development program.
Shell Petroleum Development's spokesman said, "The issue has been resolved. We have reached an agreement (with the community) on how to handle the generator issue."
