Gazprom-Rosneft Merger Plan Changed

The approval of a new business plan is a result of Yuganskneftegaz purchase

Gazprom-Rosneft Merger Plan Changed

The president of Russia?s state oil firm Rosneft Sergei Bogdanchikov said in an interview to Kommersant daily that there will be certain changes to the plans for the merger between Russian gas monopoly Gazprom and Rosneft.

?In November Rosneft predicted that in 2005 oil production will amount to approximately 25 million tons, but today this is a company capable of extracting 78-79 million tons of oil. Objectively speaking this is a completely different asset now. Therefore the scheme that was suggested earlier should be transformed,? Bogdanchikov said.

Bogdanchikov said that both Gazprom and Rosneft are developing a business plan based on the current circumstances, where Rosneft and Gazprom are working separately now.

?The approval of a new business plan is a result of Yuganskneftegaz purchase. I believe that it will be approved by the board of directors at the end of February. When Gazprom?s and Rosneft?s assets are consolidated in some form or the other, certain corrections to the business plan will have to be made.?
