Since the merger of Russian gas giant Gazprom and state-run oil firm Rosneft was coming in force in next two or three months, according to Gazprom CEO, there is god news for the foreign traders.
Gazprom head Alexei Miller said that the merger will allow foreigners to trade in Gazprom shares. At present they can only trade in Gazprom via a small issue of London-listed proxy shares.
"Obtaining majority control over Gazprom is the beginning of the liberalization of the market in Gazprom shares," he said.
By opening up trading in Gazprom to foreigners, the firm will become a top emerging market play for traders.
"This is positive news for the international investment community," BBC News quoted Global Asset Management investment chief David Smith as saying.
"The majority of investors are going to be happy," he added.
