Russia?s company Volgotanker, the biggest river shipper in Europe, which is fighting a $23 million back tax claim, will be sold.
As Russian daily Vedomosti reports, the suggested price is approximately $130-$140 million.
Earlier Russian tax authorities presented tax claim for 2001 the Volgotanker at the end of 2004. the company affirmed that it was pursued by tax authorities because of its one-time association with Yukos, which owned Volgotanker until 2000.
Vedomosti quoted a source close to Deutsche Bank as saying Volgotanker was looking for a buyer for the managers? stake of about 80 percent.
However, Volgotanker?s chairman Alexander Alexandrovich denied the speculations about his company on sale. ?I would be very much surprised to find out that the shipping company?s shareholders were in such talks,? he said.
