Russian gas monopoly Gazprom said it planned to spend $2 billion per year through next 25 years to maintain its pipeline network in order to expand its 25 percent share of the European gas market.
Without the planned repairs and upgrades, the capacity of pipelines from Gazprom's main production base in Russia's Yamal peninsula will fall to 231 billion cubic meters per year in 2030, from 544 bcm now, according to Bogdan Budzulyak, the company's head of gas transportation.
