Gazprom Will Improve Ukraine's Gas System

The Anti-Monopoly Committee of Ukraine gave a green light to Russian gas monopoly Gazprom to build a new gas pipeline that would boost exports of Russian natural gas to Europe.

Gazprom and Ukraine?s state-owned firm Naftogaz Ukraine agreed to build a new pipeline in 2004. The pipeline will be 200 km of length, and stretched from Bohoradchany in Western Ukraine to Uzhgorod in the Carpathian mountains, located on the border with the European Union. The construction cost is estimated to equal $50 million.

The pipeline is a part of a bigger plan to set up an international consortium that will manage an outdated network of Ukraine?s gas pipelines.
