Gold Fields To Collaborate With Its Foe's Ally

Gold Fields has maintained its collaboration with Russian Norilsk Nickel on possible joint ventures, Willie Jacobz, the company?s spokesman.

Gold Fields and Norilsk Nickel have been exploring a ?common goal strategy? since the Russian company acquired a one-fifth interest in the South African at a discount price.

Jakobz said that the recent Norilsk Nickel announcement about spinning off the Polyus gold subsidiary has no relation to the Harmony hostile bid for Gold Fields.
