Russian natural gas giant Gazprom announced Friday that it has purchased a controlling stake (50.19 percent of shares) of the national newspaper Izvestia.
Gazprom-Media acquired the stake from the Prof-Media publishing house, Russian news agencies reported.
Gazprom already owns a very popular NTV channel and radio station Ekho Moskvy.
