Chevron Made Oil Discovery

US oil major Chevron Corp. and a group of partners on Tuesday said they had discovered oil in the deepest well in a new drill the U.S. Gulf of Mexico region, in Green Canyon block 512 about 170 miles southeast of New Orleans.

The Knotty Head No. 1 well, which hit 600 feet of net pay oil sand, was drilled to a depth of just over 34,000 feet in about 3,500 feet of water.

US oil major said there would be further drilling to determine the full extent of the find.
