China's largest offshore oil producer by output CNOOC said Friday it has made a breakthrough in a drilling in Bohai Bay, a bay in Northeastern China.
The company said its wildcat Jinzhou 31-6-1 drilled in Bohai Bay was completed, and the well was drilled to a total depth of 2,305 meters.
The well was tested to flow about 11.7 million cubic feet of gas per day.
American depositary shares of Hong Kong-based CNOOC rose $2.03, or 2.3 percent, to $88.65 in premarket trading from Thursday's closing price of $86.62 on the New York Stock Exchange.
