Petrochina Has New Chairman

Asia's top oil and gas firm, PetroChina Co. Ltd., said it had appointed Jiang Jiemin as the chairman of its board of directors.

Jiang is currently the president and vice-chairman of the company, PetroChina said in a statement published on Monday. It gave no further details.

Jiang had said last week that PetroChina aims to extract 40 percent or more of its proven oil in the giant Jidong field off north China.

The previous Petrochina's chairman Chen Geng retired on May 16.
