European oil giant BP Plc discovered an oil field offshore Angola
European oil giant BP Plc discovered an oil field offshore Angola, Africa's second-biggest oil producer after Nigeria, the company said.
The field, which has drilled in a water depth of 2,308 metres, is known as Cordelia-1 and is BP's 14th oil discovery in Block 31.
The well is about 3.5 kilometres southeast of BP's Miranda oil field and has a flow rate of 2,063 bpd.
