Qatar Interested in Petrobras' Energy Project

Brazil's state oil and gas firm Petrobras said Tuesday that it is studying the possibility of importing liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Qatar, as well as exploration and production opportunities in the country.

Qatari authorities showed an interest in taking part in energy projects, especially those involving thermoelectricity.

Petrobras is also considering signing a memorandum of understanding with Qatar Petroleum International, the company said.

According to Petrobras, Qatar holds 5 percent of all existing natural gas reserves and is the world's largest LNG producer.
