France's Total and Angola's Sonangol Started Rosa

Total and Sonangol announced that production from the Rosa field in Angola’s Block 17 started on June 18, marking a milestone in West African production.

The Rosa field is located in 1,300 meters water depth and is tied back to the Girassol FPSO, some 15 km away, making it the first deepwater field of this size to be tied back to such a remote installation at such water depths.

Total says that “Rosa’s proven and probable reserves amounting to 370 million barrels in 100%, will maintain the FPSO’s production plateau at 250,000 barrels per day until early in the next decade.

Sonangol is the Block 17 concessionaire. Total E&P Angola, operator, has a 40% interest in Block 17, alongside partners Esso Exploration Angola (Block 17) Ltd. (20%), BP Exploration (Angola) Ltd. (16.67%), Statoil Angola Block 17 AS (13.33%). and Norsk Hydro (10%).
