Gazprom Will Control Energy Network Assets in EU

Gazprom and other non-European Union businesses will control energy network assets in the EU only if they meet tough conditions under proposals set out on Wednesday.

The move by the European Commission drew a sharp reaction in Moscow, amid concerns that Gazprom.

Konstantin Kosachev, head of the Russian parliament’s international affairs committee, said: “In the same way they are going to try to stop us entering market sectors of the western European economy, we will have to limit access for our foreign partners to the corresponding strategic sectors of the Russian economy.”
