BP: Baku-Supsa Pipeline Shipments Halted Temporarily

BP announced that Baku-Supsa pipeline which transports crude from Azerbaijan to Georgia's Black Sea coast was closed because of security concerns.

Baku-Supsa shipments were halted August 12th because of Russian-Georgian conflict. Exporters had resumed injections into the link August 2nd after about 19 months of repairs.

Ms Tamam Bayatly a BP spokeswoman in Baku said that "The pipeline is safe and undamaged and is shut down as a precaution only."

It was used as an export route when another BP-led pipeline, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan, stopped taking crude for pumping from Azerbaijan to the Mediterranean after a blast August 5th.
