Roxi hits its kazakh jackpot

UK-listed Roxi Petroleum said it had struck 12.8 metres of net oil pay in the NK-22 exploration well on the Galaz contract in Kazakhstan. Roxi said in a statement that wireline logging showed the oil was found in good-quality lower Cretaceous and upper Jurassic formations. The well was drilled to total depth of 2840 metres and would be cased for further testing.

Roxi chief executive David Wilkes said the oil appeared to be a satellite accumulation to the North-West Konys filed at Galaz. He said output to the field could be added to pilot production from the contract, expected in the second quarter of this year.
