Rosneft vice-president Sergei Maksrov has resigned

Rosneft vice-president Sergei Makarov, who ran the Russian producer's financial affairs, has quit the company to work elsewhere, Rosneft said in a statement issued today. Makarov, 46, joined Rosneft in January 2007 and took charge of the state-run company's finances during a period in which it rose to become Russia's biggest oil producer by purchasing many of the assets once belonging to defunct oil firm Yukos.

"He supervised the company's financial sector, including raising the efficiency of internal finances and budgetary issues," Rosneft said on its website. The company did not name a replacement or give details of Makarov's new job. A Rosneft official declined to give more details when contacted by Reuters.

Makarov's departure follows the resignation in January of another senior Rosneft official, Dmitry Bogdanov, who was in charge of the company's downstream sector.
