Ljubljana, April 13 - Neftegaz.RU. Slovenian gas wholesaler Geoplin and Russian energy group Gazprom today to sign a gas supply contract for the next 5 years.
Slovenian Foreign Minister Karl Erjavec, Russian Ambassador Doku Zavgajev and Gazprom Deputy Chairman Alexander Medvedev also attended thr signing.
Under the contract, Slovenia will import 600 millions cubic meters of gas a year, the Slovenian national media Slovenian Press Agency STA reported. Geoplin was quoted by STA as saying that negotiations on the deal had been completed in late 2017.
The contract, under which Slovenia will import 600 millions cubis metres of gas a year, was signed by Geoplin CEO Bostjan Napast and Gazprom Export CEO Elena Burmistrova.
Natural gas accounts for 12 % of Slovenia's energy consumption. About 40 % of natural gas used by Slovenia is imported from Russia, which means that the gas from this deal will meet about 5 % of Slovenia's energy demand.
