St. Petersburg, April 17 - Neftegaz.RU. As part of the potential of Gazprom Neft's bunker business, Gazprom Neft Marine Bunker is developing a unique project for the construction of Russia's 1st liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunker barge by 2020.

Gazprom Neft Marine Bunker is working on something unique for the industry, the construction of Russia's 1st LNG bunker barge by 2020, the statement was announced on the company´s website. The company also highlighted the importance of ensuring a guaranteed supply of marine fuel for Gazprom Neft’s Arctic projects.

By 2025, the company plans to increase fuel sales volumes, develop its own terminal network, upgrade and expand its fleet, start selling LNG as bunker fuel in Russia and build LNG bunker vessels.

The Company's share in the Russian bunkering market at the end of 2017 was 16.6 % with total sales of marine fuel reaching over 2.87 million tonnes. Overall, Gazpromneft Marine Bunker estimates the LNG bunkering market will grow from 100,000 mt in 2020-2022 to 300,000-400,000 mt by 2025.

Gazpromneft Marine Bunker, a subsidiary of Gazprom Neft, was established in 2007 to provide year-round supplies of marine fuel and oils for sea and river vessels.
