Syktyvkar, September 11 - Neftegaz.RU. LUKOIL has commissioned a steam generation farm at Yarega field of highly viscous oil in the Republic of Komi. The facility is to build up production as part of Yarega area Phase 2 development.
The farm, including 5 boilers with the total capacity of 125 metric tonnes of steam an hour, produces steam vapor under higher pressure than that produced by the boiler room operated earlier. The higher pressure provides better efficiency of the reservoir heat-up and increases the wells' flow rates.
The company also works to expand the capacities of the Center and North steam-generation farms at Yarega.
Yarega, LUKOIL Group’s largest high-viscosity oilfield, includes 2 main producing areas: Yarega area, where thermoshaft technique is used to produce oil, and Lyayel area, where oil is extracted through steam-assisted gravity drainage. As of the 1st half of 2018, oil production at the field grew by 77%, as compared with the same period of the previous year, reaching the amount of 761 thousand metric tonnes.
