Vladivostok, September 13 - Neftegaz.RU. A working meeting between Alexey Miller, CEO of Gazprom, Tadashi Maeda, Governor of Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Hidenori Takaoka, CEO of the Energy Business Group of Mitsubishi, Yoshihisa Suzuki, President of Itochu, took place on September 12 at the 4th Eastern Economic Forum.
Gazprom and JBIC discussed the prospects of further cooperation. Both have established a long-standing and fruitful cooperation. Specifically, JBIC participated in financing the Blue Stream gas pipeline construction project and the Sakhalin 2 project.
In 2016, the companies signed the MoU outlining the principles of cooperation in securing financing for Gazprom's projects with the involvement of Japanese companies.
The meeting with Mitsubishi was addressed the current status of the Sakhalin 2 project, discussing, inter alia, the construction of the 3rd train of the LNG plant.
The parties also considered the prospects for further cooperation. In 2016, Gazprom and Mitsubishi inked the Agreement of Strategic Cooperation to further their partnership in the LNG sector.
Gazprom and Itochu addressed potential cooperation in the LNG sector, including the localization of production and services in Russia in order to maximize the involvement of Russian businesses in new LNG projects of Gazprom. Itochu is one of Japan’s largest general trading companies. It is engaged in oil & natural gas production and processing and LNG projects.
