Kazakhstan to start exporting its gasoline to Central Asia

Nur-Sultan, June 24 - Neftegaz.RU. According to NewEurope, Kazakhstan will for the 1st time begin to export high-octane gasoline of its own production to the countries of Central Asia and Europe, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy Kanat Bozumbayev said.

“The export of high-octane gasoline should start next week. We will export to the countries of Central Asia – Uzbekistan and Tajikistan – and to Afghanistan, as well as to some countries of Europe,” Bozumbayev said.

According to him, about 20% of the gasoline produced in Kazakhstan will be exported and 80% will remain in the domestic market. Kazakhstan now has a gasoline surplus, as all storages are full. This became possible after the government completed the modernisation of 3 large refineries that begun to produce high-octane gasoline.

Earlier, Kazakhstan imported high-octane gasoline from neighbouring Russia as the gasoline produced in Kazakhstan was not enough to cover the domestic market. According to his information, export volumes are expected to be somewhere in the range of 60,000-70,000 tonnes of AI-92, and 10,000-15,000 tonnes of AI-95.

The Minister of Energy also noted that negotiations are currently being held with Kazakhstan’s partners in the EAEU – Belarus and Kyrgyzstan and Armenia, who are interested in supplying Kazakhstan’s oil and oil products.

For its part, Kazakhstan set a condition on the impossibility of re-export, so that there was no unfair competition, Bozumbayev noted. The minister expects negotiations to be successful.
