The company´s CEO Alexey Miller discussed multilateral gas relations with Turkish minister of natural resources Fatih Donmez.
Russia sends gas by way of the Turkish Stream and Blue Stream natural gas pipelines.
From January 1 through September 19, Gazprom delivered 20.3 billion m3 of gas to Turkey.
This is an all-time high amount of gas for this period and an increase of 153% (or 12.3 billion m3) against 2020 (8 billion m3).
Russia is one of the main suppliers of natural gas to the European market.
That market, however, is buckling under supply-side pressures and the strains of exceptionally high commodity prices.
US energy secretary Jennifer Granholm told the Bloomberg news service September 20 that she wanted a probe into Russian business practices in the European energy market.
Granholm said:
- If any entity is manipulating supply in order to make greater profit at a point where Europeans are entering into a winter, and if it’s a cold winter, that needs to be looked at
- Companies or governments should not be manipulating prices in a way that ends up hurting people
The company said:
- We believe that this is very timely as Europe is facing an unusually tight market for natural gas.
