Ashgabat, September 22 - Neftegaz.RU. Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan discussed the possibility of supplying Turkmen natural gas to the Kazakh market, Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Askar Mamin, who paid a working visit to Turkmenistan.
During the visit, Askar Mamin met with Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and took part in a meeting of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Kazakh Commission on Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation (IGC).
“In the energy sector, we considered the possibility of supplying Turkmen gas to the domestic market of Kazakhstan,” - Askar Mamin said in an interview with ORIENT after the IGC meeting.
- We will work in this direction. These are new projects, new volumes. This is connected, again, with the development and potential of export supplies of Turkmenistan and, accordingly, the development of the domestic gas consumption market in Kazakhstan, Mamin said.
Speaking about other topics discussed at the meeting with Berdimuhamedov, Askar Mamin said that “such spheres as cooperation in the field of energy, transit and transport potential were touched upon.”
- We see great opportunities for development. Even despite the processes associated with the global pandemic that are taking place this year, the trade turnover between our countries is growing. According to the results of 7 months, there is an increase - more than 30%, - added the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
In this regard, Mamin noted that an increase in transit traffic on the North-South railway linking Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan with Iran is expected.
