Tainted crude removed from Belarus' part of Surgut-Polotsk pipeline

Minsk, August 8 - Neftegaz.RU. Contaminated Russian crude has been removed from the Belarusian section of the Surgut-Polotsk pipeline, BelTa learned from Director of Polotsktransneft Druzhba Vasily Drobotov.

“The process of cleaning up the Surgut-Polotsk oil pipeline is complete. Now the oil pumped by the Polotsktransneft Druzhba pipeline meets with the necessary quality standards,” Vasily Drobotov noted.

Thus, substandard oil has been completely moved from Belarusian pipelines. BelTA reported earlier that on 19 April Belneftekhim registered a massive decrease in the quality of the Russian oil mixture Urals coming via the oil pipeline system Druzhba.

The concentration of chlororganic compounds in oil exceeded standard thresholds dozens of times over. Both Belarusian oil refineries – Naftan and Mozyr Oil Refinery – were forced to reduce their workload and have suffered financial losses.
