Gazprom discussed with China National Petroleum Corporation projects for Russian gas supplies to China, including via the eastern route – through the Power of Siberia gas pipeline – and from Russia’s Far East, the Russian gas monopoly said on April 12, 2017.
Over 650 kilometres of the Power of Siberia gas trunk line had been built up to that moment, with 927 kilometres of the pipe string welded, Gazprom CEO Alexey Miller, China’s State Council Vice Premier Zhang Gaoli and CNPC Vice President Wang Dongjin noted during their talks in Moscow.
According to Gazprom, a temporary 2-way checkpoint was built on the state border as part of the construction project for the crossing under the Amur River within Power of Siberia’s cross-border section.
The checkpoint will provide unfettered access to the restricted area for operating personnel and construction equipment.
The meeting participants from the 2 state companies also addressed such issues as the cooperation in the gas storage, NGV and power generation sectors and the organization of the Silk Way Rally 2017 Russia – Kazakhstan – China, Gazprom said.
Gazprom’s main partner in China is CNPC.
In 2014, Gazprom and CNPC signed the Sales and Purchase Agreement for Russian gas to be supplied via the eastern route (Power of Siberia gas pipeline).
The 30-year Agreement provides for gas deliveries to China in the amount of 38 billion cubic metres per year.
In 2015, Gazprom and CNPC inked the Heads of Agreement for pipeline deliveries of natural gas from Western Siberian fields to China via the western route (Power of Siberia 2 gas pipeline).
At the initial stage, 30 billion cubic metres of gas is planned to be delivered annually.
In 2015, Gazprom and CNPC inked the Memorandum of Understanding for the project of pipeline gas supplies to China from Russia’s Far East.
On June 25, 2016, Gazprom and CNPC signed the Memorandum of Understanding on underground gas storage and gas-fired power generation in China.
On November 7, 2016, Gazprom and CNPC signed the Memorandum to explore the opportunities for cooperation in the NGV sector.
