NOVATEK: 1st modules delivered for the Arctic LNG 2 project


Moscow, September 21 - Neftegaz.RU. Arctic LNG 2 today announced that the 1st modules for LNG Train 1 were successfully delivered by the project’s EPC contractor, a joint venture of Technip Energies, Saipem and NIPIGAS.

The two 1st pipe-rack modules weighing approximately 9 000 tons each were shipped from the Zhoushan port in China to the NOVATEK-Murmansk LNG Construction Center and will be further skidded onto the Gravity Base Structure, or GBS, platform of LNG Train 1.
The next 2 modules have been loaded onto a transport ship and are on transit to Murmansk.

Overall, 14 modules will be delivered from contractors' shipyards for the 1st LNG train.
The Arctic LNG 2 project is progressing on schedule, and the successful delivery of the 1st modules represents an important milestone towards launching the project on time.

Arctic LNG 2 envisages constructing 3 LNG liquefaction trains of 6.6 million tons per annum each for the total LNG capacity of 19.8 million tons, as well ascumulative gas condensate production capacity of 1.6 million tons per annum.

NOVATEK has a 60% stake in Arctic LNG 2, with the remaining shareholders comprising:
  • France's Total (10%)
  • China's CNPC (10%), China's CNOOC (10%)
  • a consortium of Japan's Mitsui and Jogmec with the final 10% stake
The participants of Arctic LNG 2 approved a FID for the project in September 2019.
Capital expenditures to launch the project at full capacity is estimated at $21.3 billion equivalent.
